We want to share the stories of different veterans to show others that recovery is possible, and we want to advocate for the prevention of veteran suicide and to bring awareness to our veteran suicide epidemic. We also want everyone to know that it's OK to reach out for help. It takes a strong person to ask for help. You're never alone. Also, we want to bring awareness to veteran service organizations that are out doing amazing work in the veteran community and also spotlight some veteran owned businesses.
Let us tell you a little bit about us here at Charlie Mike The Podcast. My name is Raul, U.S. Army Retired, combat veteran born in Houston,Tx but raised in Pearland, TX. After 9/11, I knew that I was going to enlist in the U.S Army. I served ten years for this beautiful country of ours. I’ve gone through my own battles dealing with an addiction to alcohol/pain pills after injuring my back, and a few other injuries as well as severe depression and PTSD. Overcoming this has been one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done.
My name is William I'm a native Houstonian. I was a combat Infantryman from '05 to '18 with a couple tours to Iraq. After those tours I spent some time with the Warrior Transition Battalion at Fort Sam Houston, TX. I loved serving our wounded, injured, and ill soldiers for the four years I was there. I finished my service at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where I suffered a TBI from a jump that altered the course of my career and I was medically retired. The transition home was hard because it happened before I was ready. I was still eager to serve and learn. over the last couple years I found that in order to be a better leader I have to be a better person. Leadership starts with self development. Since meeting Raul and the Charlie Mike brand, I found a medium to continue to serve those who are injured and whose wounds may not be visible scars. By sharing my story and hearing theirs we are helping them rise. I want to help others Charlie Mike.
